WHAT IS A MOMPRENEUR

mom·pre·neur  /mämprəˈnÉ™r/

noun informal

  1. a woman who sets up and runs her own business in addition to caring for her young child or children.

The term “mompreneur” is used in so many different ways, that to really define it, is a hard thing to do. For me, I am a MOMPRENEUR because I am both a mom & a business owner. I mean, let’s face it… being a mom is really hard…. owning a business (no matter what you do) is really hard…. and combining the two and doing them well, is ridiculously hard.

As I have read more on what it means to be a “mompreneur”, I’ve seen some interesting definitions… one being “a female business owner who is actively balancing the role of mom and the role of entrepreneur.” However, the more and more I talk to women (and look at my own life), the “balance” part is usually 

the part that has us all in shambles… because finding balance in being a mom and a business owner, is not easy… it’s actually sometimes seems near impossible. 

 

Over the last few years I have decided that I want the balance… I don’t want the massive chaos anymore that is dragging me down and, in a way, killing me. I want to be able to say that I am a mom that has found the “balance” of doing it all… and doing both well.

Thankfully, the last couple of years, I feel that in some ways I am getting there…but it’s interesting, because I’ve found it in the least expected way……….

My heart for other MOMPRENEURS

This is not an easy road. As MOMPRENEURS we love our kids so much and want to spend time with them; however, we also LOVE to work…. we crave it and need it… It’s part of who we are. Both are equally important and it’s imperative that we find a way to do both… be a GREAT mom, and a GREAT business owner.

I want to tell you that you CAN! You can do both. You CAN find a semblance of balance. You CAN control your emotions. You CAN conquer the fear, the worry, the depression that seems to haunt you. 

​

You have a HUGE heart and you want to share it all. Let’s make that happen. Get out of the funk… get out of the rut… get out of the hole… come up for air and enjoy your life. Don’t get sucked into the lies.

​

I am going to continue to share my journey and share with you the things that I have found to work. I will share my struggles, my pains, my successes and my victories. But.. you have to be willing to be open to what I have to share. It has so much to do with finding YOU again. 

FINDING TIME FOR ME

HEALTH, FITNESS, BALANCE

So often MOMPRENEURS are the type of women who take care of everyone else. We take care of our kids, our significant others, our clients… and more often than not we totally forget to take care of ourselves. Do you know how many studies are out there that link eating healthy and being physically active, with mental health? And, when we are mentally stronger & healthy, we will be able to handle all the craziness of mommyhood + entrenuerpship. We will be able to start finding a little balance!

In my personal story, I truly feel that the only way that I got through one of the hardest times of my life, was because I finally decided to focus on ME. I took time to completely change the way I eat, workout each day, and it changed me. It made me a better me. It helped me get through some really crazy PPD and, also a very hard time in my relationship with my husband. Every day was not perfect, and I will NEVER say it was… I still have days when all I want to do is cry, but I can not imagine how many more days I would have if I wasn’t taking time for ME!. 

​

And through it all, I was able to not only change my life for the better, but show my kids, family, clients, and friends, that taking care of yourself is attainable… and that you can become a better YOU for doing it. My family has been affected in such a positive way, that I would not change this journey for the world. 

START WITH YOU.

For most of us, we can’t do it on our own… heck sometimes it’s hard enough to roll out of bed, much less figure out how to find time to get a workout in, or personal development.

​

That is why you have to surround yourself with people who want to see change and are willing to push themselves to get there. Be apart of a group of people who are ready to wake up early, push play, read some books, and become the mom and business owner that they’ve always wanted to be. Be a happier version of YOU!
